We moved to Puerto Rico!
And it’s San Juanderful. (Sorry, couldn’t help that pun, and I’m not taking it back.) Okay, this is more than my typical travel post, because instead of spending a few days visiting a new location, we are living the island life! (La vida loca?) My boyfriend got a job opportunity here, and I live the Internet work life with this blog and ModernTribe, so we thought, let’s do it! Okay, there was a little more thought put into it than that like figuring out housing/insurance/generators//car stuff/making friends/should we move across the country together, but as soon as I knew it was an option, I was IN. It’s a big life change, and some may say we’re crazy, but how could we not take the opportunity? Navigating our new life here has already brought us even closer, and I’m hoping my Spanish is getting better by the day! Creo que si.
Common questions: There is definitely still recovery to do post-hurricane, but a lot of the hotels and restaurants are open and you should visit! The beaches are so gorgeous, the people are so nice, and the food is delicious. And yes, there are a few synagogues here. Even a bagel food truck opening soon! Tell me what else you’re wondering!
I’m getting food inspiration everywhere. I couldn’t resist trying this Spicy Paloma with Ginger Tahini Salted Rim from the amazing Santaella.
Pastrami Brisket with Pickled Cabbage from our favorite La Coctelera.
And falafel tacos from Kabanas! Falacos are a thing now.
We’ve been enjoying lots of beach time.
And infinity pool by the beach time.
And exploring time!
So cute, right? This is Old San Juan.
I even get to enjoy my bagels with a view.
Besos! Some of you asked for a guide to visiting PR, so I’ll share another post about that soon. Our days lately have been mostly buying couches (#adulting), but we are ready to explore.

So Thanksgiving may not be “technically” a Jewish holiday but every 480 some-odd years we get Thanksgivikkuh right? So enjoy the sunshine! I admit, I am a teensy tiny bit sad. Now that I live in Austin I had hoped to meet you or see you live at an event or something. Ah well, I’m still a die-hard follower and shopper. B’shalom!

Ha more like 70,000 years! I’m sure I’ll be back to Austin to speak at an event at some point! 🙂

How timely! I am considering a similar move. What part of San Juan did you settle on? I’ve heard stories that the neighborhood you choose has a huge impact on price, security, etc.

We are in Condado!

Lovely!! Mazel Tov! (I’m really jealous too as it’s 40 degrees outside here today!)
