A little recap of my trips to NYC and Puerto Rico! From rainy Time’s Square to sunny Caribbean yachts! And food. Lots of food.
Could these food photos be any more me?? (Said in Chandler voice.) Bright Jewish food and rainbow sprinkle espresso (you can’t quite see the edible glitter, but trust me, it’s there.) If you have been following along on my blog Instagram and personal Instagram, you may have already seen my adventures in NYC and Puerto Rico last week, but I thought it would be fun to share a few more Internet appropriate details!
First, NYC. The photo on the left was a tasty lunch from Hummus Kitchen with my friend Jeremy. The shawarma hummus was my favorite, with warm whole wheat pita bread. Because I’m healthy like that. I almost felt like I was in Israel, except when I looked outside and saw rainy Hell’s Kitchen instead. Similar. We chatted about our fave Instagram accounts and food, naturally.
Then I met my name twin and new idol Adriana Kertzer at Serendipity 3. I was still full of shakshuka, but not too full to enjoy a Tiffany espresso. Adriana and I “met” when were were interviewed for the same article. Turns out we have more in common than a similar name! We played the Jewish name game, and started brainstorming new ways to work together. So inspiring!
The next day, I met my blog friend turned real friend Liz for one of my new favorites. Sadelle’s!
Y’all I wish you could see how gorgeous this restaurant is! Pretty blues, and whites and marble. Plus, how sexy are those bagels on a stick (answer: super sexy). Definitely one of the fanciest (and priciest) bagel sandwiches I’ve had, but also one of the best. (And it’s all the bagels you can eat!) I also tried a bite of a gluten free bagel and they were pretty good for my gluten free friends out there!
A few hours later, I met my book publisher at Ben’s Kosher Deli. If you haven’t been here, I recommend it. Ben’s is real old school, in the best way possible. I couldn’t resist half of a corned beef on rye and matzah ball soup. And a lot of pickles.
Buh bye Time’s Square! Much to my surprise, my ride to the airport was a limo! And me without any champagne in my carry-on. Sigh.
And a few hours later I was in sunny Puerto Rico for my friend’s bachelorette party with 10 other girls! I had never been before, and totally loved it. (With one small carry-on, for both trips mind you.) The people were nice, the food was tasty, the scenery was diverse and gorgeous, and the houses, rainbow!
First stop, margaritas!
Saturday we rented a private boat in Fajardo and was totally spoiled by this view for 6 hours or so.
I didn’t really take any food pics, but definitely get the fresh from the water seafood, cassava, and ceviche. We did some clubbing…
And I pretended to be a fashion blogger (stick with your day job, Amy.)
Saw the sites in Old San Juan.
A pina colada in a pineapple basically saved my life.
Now I’m back! And prepping for SXSW next…
[…] covered a lot of romantic vacations for this blog (totally kidding, unless you count traveling for corned beef sandwiches as romantic, which I do of course.) But this trip to St. Thomas + St. John with my boyfriend was […]
