Chocolate Strawberry Matzah Pizza

The best part of Passover? Matzah pizza, duh. But who says it has to be savory? Dessert Matzah Pizza saves the day!
Some people knock on Passover food, and while I admit it isn’t always sunshine and rainbows (matzah meal pound cake should probably be used as a weapon only), I’m a pretty positive person, and there are tons of positives. Like chopped liver, brisket, and flourless chocolate cake. And not get me started on the prerequisite four glasses of wine!

But what I really look forward to every year is matzah pizza. I guess there is no law saying there you can’t have matzah pizza in July, but it just that much sweeter during Passover week with a glass (or shot) of Manishcewitz.

And I love a cheesy Margarita Matzah Pizza as much as the next Jew (that is, a lot) there is something to be said for a sweet variety. Homemade salted caramel sauce, chocolate spread, and strawberries.

Everyone’s favorite Passover treat is matzah pizza, and now you can have it for dessert too, with this version with chocolate spread, strawberries and salted caramel sauce.

  • The add in butter and let caramel bubble. Stir until melted. Then, slowly pour in the cream and whisk. Remove from heat and stir in salt. Cool.
  • To make pizza, preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a cookie sheet with foil or parchment paper. Place matzah in a single layer on the cookie sheet.
  • In a medium bowl, stir cream cheese, sugar, cocoa powder and salt until combined. Carefully spread on matzah pieces, making sure not to break matzah. Bake for 2-3 minutes until warm.
  • Top with strawberry slices, mint, and drizzle with salted caramel. Serve immediately.

I created this recipe for Imperial Sugar, but as usual all opinions are my own.
