Easy Sufganiyot Dippers

Easy Sufganiyot Dippers are the simplest yet most delicious made-from-scratch Hanukkah doughnuts ever!

Easy Sufganiyot

Presenting the easiest made-from-scratch Hanukkah doughnuts ever. No special equipment needed, no yeast, you don’t even have to deep fry! Suspicious? Let me explain.

Easy Sufganiyot

I love the process of making sufganiyot. Activating the yeast, kneading, waiting, shaping, frying, filling. It’s a process, but the result is always worth it.

But sometimes, we want doughnuts now.

Quick and easy but, of course, still delicious. These are those doughnuts. This is a cake doughnut, so no yeast needed. And they are mini, so I fried them on each side in 1-inch of oil instead of deep-frying, which uses less oil and makes less of a mess (and frankly, is less scary).

And then instead of filling these doughnuts, you can dip them in your favorite sauces. I made a warm jelly sauce (naturally) and melted chocolate also works great.

In 30 minutes you too can be noshing on these easy sufganiyot dippers!

Do you know if I could use 1:1 gluten free flour for these?

I haven’t tried it but I think that would work! Let me know if you try it.

These were so delicious and super easy! We dipped ours in chocolate ganache but they were also yummy plain. Thank you and Happy Hanukkah!

        Hi Amy,
I wish more of your recipes had an option to prepare gluten-free.
For the donuts, would using Xanthan gum replace the need for baking powder and keep them fluffy?
Also, if I wanted to make the sufganiyot larger so I could fill them with….jelly, chocolate, etc, would there need to be an additional adjustment to the recipe?
And just how do you get the filling inside the sufganiyot?
        Thanks! It’s snowing outside!

P.S. How would the sweet potato latkes recipe change if I were to bake instead of fry them? Thanks again!

You can use the same recipe to bake if you want!

Hi Sheila- Gluten free recipes are not my specialty. I would suggest you look at the Jewish bloggers Zenbelly and Predominately Paleo for Jewish gluten free recipes. Though I do have a section of recipes that are gluten free or easily adaptable. I have not tested with xantham gum so I would use the baking powder. You could make them larger and use a piping bag to fill, but you will need to deep fry them. I don’t have a recipe for baked latkes either.

Do you think these could be done in an air fryer?
