10 of the wackiest (yes wackiest!) sweet and savory hamantaschen on the Internets!

10 Sweet and Savory Hamantaschen

It’s hard to find fault with a holiday that basically actually requires you to drink booze and eat cookies. Sign me up for Purim! Hand me a hamantasche and call me Esther while you’re at it. The soft, triangular cookie is often filled with traditional poppyseed or prune jam fillings, but I like to switch things up. You can find all of my Purim recipes here, but today I rounded up some of my favorite sweet and savory hamantaschen from some of my fave bloggers.

What is Purim? I’m glad you asked!  Esther, a sassy young Jew living in ancient Persia, saves all the Jews from the King’s evil adviser Haman’s devious plans of extermination. So we rejoice with tons of rowdy parties, costumes, booze, and hedonism. Some people call Purim is known as the Jewish Mardi Gras or Halloween. That may be a stretch, but if you need me I’ll be the one dressed as bagel and lox.

A cousin and I made red velvet, mint chocolate and halva on Monday. I posted pictures on Facebook in a forum of people I grew up with and the responses exploded! I put the link to your recipes up there and just thought I’d warn you that you might be getting a whole slew of new subscribers who were originally from Louisville. 🙂
