Does felt gefilte fish taste better than real gefilte fish?? This pressing question and more answered with Sparrow Mart LA at The Standard in Downtown LA!

I know this looks like a completely candid photo of me food shopping in the kosher aisle, but it was way more exciting. Hold onto your borscht, because everything you see is made of felt! Whaaaaa.
We made a special trip to LA for my boyfriend’s birthday and for the media opening of Sparrow Mart! The all-felt supermarket. It felt like beshert that they fell on the same day.

The Sparrow Mart is the brainchild of the genius Lucy Sparrow and is at The Standard in Downtown LA just for August 2018. It’s free, just show up from 11am – 9pm any day except Monday. 31,000 (!!) felt grocery items, all made by hand, and all for sale! Starting at only $5 for one-of-a-kind art. So cool, right? It is hard to even describe or grasp in photos, so you must go in person if you can.
I love all supermarkets (I even worked in one during culinary school!) but I could spend hours in this one.

Everything from sushi to meat to cigarettes to soda to Spam!
Fruit to liquor to cereal to candy to tampons! Even the shelves were felt.
Just the essentials. Filled up my cart with goodies!
Everything that was once alive has a face- fun fact!
Watermelons have feelings too!
Even the ATM machine is felt! It dispenses felt money!

Our loot! Which felt item would you buy?

We were upgraded to a Wow! Suite, which more than lived up to its name.
The bathtub easily fit four people. Not that we tried.
Their Rooftop Pool + Bar is equally as amazing. A heated pool, DJ, waterbed pods and these adorable topiary dogs!

I want my next bed to be a waterbed pod. Anyone know where I can get one??
We had time after Sparrow Mart for a little more birthday LA fun! Meandering and (non-kosher) noshes at Grand Central Market.

Dinner and Orsa & Winston was AMAZING! I highly recommend it for special occasions. <3

Thanks to The Standard + Sparrow Mart for the media hotel room/media pass for this special trip!
