A little recap from my trip to NYC and CT for Passover 2015! Expect lots of photos of bread and not bread and adventures with Bubbe!

Passover 2015 13

How were your Passovers? Tell me everything! I went back to CT to see Bubbe, but did a little stopover in the motherland (aka NYC) for two days. And I sure packed a lot unto those two days! Business meetings (I hope to share the details of soon), seeing friends, and a happy hour at Schapiro’s for my invisible Internet friends! (Thank you so much Schapiro’s for hosting us! If you live in NYC, check them out. They are named after the last winery in Manhattan, source locally, and use salvaged artifacts from the LES as decor. So cool.)

I wasn’t the best at taking photos (bad blogger!) but my Internet and real life friend Brian took pretty much the best selfie since the Oscars of me and Kosher Kaufman snapping lox and rye.

Speaking of, Kaufman’s Instagram game is seriously on point, as shown by this gorgeous lox and rye two ways (as toast, and on the rocks.)Passover 2015 4

We also had pickles in the dark. But these local pickles were amazing, and definitely deserve the shout out.

Passover 2015 12

Afterward, we hit up Cheeky with Joel and Amber (who also both have ridiculous Instagram games) for braised short rib sandwiches on challah bread with horseradish sauce. (Whhhhaaa???)Passover 2015 1

So good. The next day was sunny and happy and the perfect day to hold some babka in the air!Passover 2015 8

I met my good friend Liz of Kosher Like Me at Bread’s Bakery to nosh and chat and of course take pictures!

Passover 2015 10

Everything was so good. I’d say the babka and that little mozzarella sandwich were my favorites.

Passover 2015 2

After stuffing our faces, I filmed a little video with my friend Sam. I’ll also share that soon! Oy, so much to share.

Passover 2015 3

We had to feature some favorite NYC Jewy treats including knishes from Yonah Schimmel.  (Their website is perfect.)

Passover 2015 7And Russ & Daughters Cafe. Everything I dreamed of and more.

Passover 2015 5

I finally got my overhead Instagram worthy R&D shot! My life is complete.

Passover 2015 6

I rounded out the two days with quiche and lavender lattes (!!!) with Fifteen Spatulas at Bibble & Sip before meandering through Time Square (not sure why I thought that was a good idea) and hopping on the train in Grand Central home!Passover 2015 9

Bubbe and Mom were there to greet me! (You can get these aprons on my Etsy page).

Me and mom! Did I mention her top is made of white leather?? Can I be her when I grow up? JK, I’m never growing up.

Passover 2015 19

Whole Foods generously gave me a gift card to try some of their Passover selection, and we stocked up on the good stuff. Matzah, matzah granola, macaroons and tons of horseradish, along with kosher chicken and brisket and green beans from their catering offerings (see below). Thanks, Whole Foods!

Passover 2015 18

Seder plate on fleek (I’m so sorry I said that.)Passover 2015 22

Hillel Sandwich (my favorite!) with a photo bomb by Manischewitz. Passover 2015 16

And of course, matzah ball soup. Passover 2015 24

I made my Red Wine Braised Brisket and White Wine Braised Chicken with tomatoes and potatoes. (See a theme here???) Did you know if you call up Whole Foods they can order you pretty much any kosher meat you want? True story. Now you know.

Passover 2015 23

Brisket from the other side. (And shout out to green beans!)

Passover 2015 21

Andy found the afikomen! Good for him (I hate losing).
