Homemade Kosher Dog Treats

Puppies!!! Who out there has a puppy? My roommate recently got an Australian shepherd named Beau and we love his sweet little puppy face. So much so that I spent two minutes making this photo montage!

Homemade Kosher Dog Treats

I KNOW, right? Isn’t Beau just the cutest? That was rhetorical, of course he is. The little bugger grows bigger every day, but for now we can still pick him up and snuggle the heck out of him. Like any good overprotective Jewish mother, I constantly worry, and it doesn’t help that he will eat anything that can fit in his mouth. Likewise, I like to shower Beau with homemade goodies. Like these homemade kosher dog treats! Simple, all natural, and tasty. Not that I tried one. No, not I! Anyhoo, it’s super simple. First, one more puppy photo.

Ahhh! P.S. If you need a little cheat sheet on what people food dogs can eat, check out this site. All you do is mix the oats and flour together. Then add in peanut butter and warm milk. Knead the dough well adding in more flour if it’s really sticky.

Roll out the dough into 1/4″ thickness and cut into shapes with cookie cutters. I used Jewnicorns and Texas, duh! Brush with egg wash and bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet for 40 minutes. Turn off the oven and let them cool 2-3 hours.

I can’t comment on the treats because we don’t have a doggie but I wanted to say that your doggie is beautiful! Stunning, stunning eyes!

Made these for my new puppy – she loves them! Had to add a lot more flour and ended up with 40 dog one shaped cookies – not as original as a Jewnicorn, but still tastes great! Thanks for the recipe and l’shana tova.

[…] Make them a tasty treat! Latkes typically contain onions and are fatty which aren’t healthy for pets, but there are several kosher dog treats out there that will satisfy your furry family such as these treats from whatjewwannaeat.com. […]

Shalom Amy, I don’t think its a good idea feeding a dog the ingredients in these treats.

Love your use/play of the word Jew though. We called one of our bitches Juno so I get your sense of jewmour :)))

Hi Steve- these are dog safe! I wouldn’t feed them a ton, they are treats, after all. Ha Jewmour!

It’s Erev Pesach and we’re going to foster a puppy? What can we use to make Kosher for Pesach dog treats?
