Daily Candy’s Start Small, Go Big Contest: WJWE is a Finalist!

Published by Amy Becker on August 8, 2012
Daily Candy SSGB

Great news, friends! WJWE is one of 18 finalists in Daily Candy’s Start Small, Go Big Contest! (Eeek!) What is this contest you may ask? Good question! Daily Candy is looking for creative, up and coming small business (like WJWE!) that are the next BIG THING. The winners (one in each category) have the opportunity to travel to the Motherland aka NYC, work with mentors (like Andy Cohen (Mazel!), Gail Simmons or Marcus Samuelsson), have a big theme party, and get the support of Daily Candy! When If I win, I plan to use the opportunity to take WJWE to the next level- modern and fun Jewish cookbooks, maybe a product line, more gratuitous photos of myself. The possibilities are endless!

How do I win? Well, I need your vote! If you like reading WJWE, or just want to help a girl out, PLEASE click on this link to go vote for WJWE! You can vote ONCE A DAY until August 24th for a chance to win a Jonathan Adler tote! I’ll probably harass you a few more times about it, but thank you so so much for your support. Jew the best!

For those of you new around here- welcome! I make weekly Jewish recipes with a twist for Jew to enjoy no matter your religion. Make sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter for recipe updates and Google+ for interactive cooking videos. I’ll be whipping up a kugel LIVE on my profile at 6pm CT today! Here are a few of my favorite recipes to show you what WJWE is all about. Thanks for stopping by!

Manischewitz Sangria. You read that right. Need I say more?

Nutella Rugelach. One of my first posts ever! So excuse the crappy photography. But still one of my favorites. I took a rich, Jewish croissant style cookie and added the gloriously sinful Nutella. So wrong, it has to be right.

Mexican Potato Latkes. When I moved from NYC to Texas, I quickly embraced the culture. Cowboy boots, country music, cowboys (grr) and of course the food. So when it came time to recreate my favorite Hanukkah treat, I went to my new favorite food type- Mexican!

Margarita Matzah Pizza. This is hardly a recipe, so I almost feel bad sharing. But for some reason people love it, so I hope Jew will too! It’s so tasty you won’t even need to wait until Passover to try.

Pretzel Challah Rolls. Oh lord these are good. Time consuming, but worth it. And the basis of the best sandwiches eve. Eeevvverrr,

Homemade Lox. Who new it was so easy to make lox? Well I guess someone out there did. My Bubbe has been proud of me many times over the years- when I made bagels or briefly dated an orthodontist, but not much tops when I made my own lox!

Thanks for voting and reading!!

Mazel!

Congratulations! Going to vote. And thanks for the sampling of recipes…love these! My husband is Jewish; I am not. He did not grow up with amazing Jewish cooking, but did experience many of the standards. One of our favorite things is cooking together – well, me cooking and him eating! I will enjoy sharing these new spins with him and the Kid. 🙂
