Passover

It’s Passover! Elijah, I know him! I hosted a Seder in Austin this year, and it was glorious, if I do say so myself. Passover 2016: Texas Style!

I almost didn’t host this year, as I literally got off the plane from my event in St. Louis and went straight to the supermarket to start cooking. But, I’m so glad I did! It was so fun. Maybe too fun.
My fave haggaddah.

As you can see, I had my big girl camera out early, but that disappeared as soon as the wine appeared. You can actually see a distinct decrease in the quality in photos as the wine night went on. Mmm brisket. Most important part. What was on the menu??

Here is what I served:

  • Pickled Beet Deviled Eggs (used apple cider vinegar)
  • Matzah Ball Soup (duh)
  • Vegan Chopped Liver (so good)
  • Kale Salad (I used a different dressing and no cheese)
  • Vegetable Kugel with Caramelized Leeks
  • Red Wine Braised Brisket
  • Roasted Carrots with Sumac and Almonds
  • Manischewitz Ice Cream (!!!)
  • And Matzah Crack with Rainbow Sprinkles and Glitter
  • Wine!
Not surprisingly, this matzah was on the ground moments later. Too much matzah!
Seder plate #whatwhat. The whole decor spread came from Target. This is not sponsored by them at all, but I’m just a sucker for gold striped napkins. (The forks were covered in gold glitter, y’all. Gold glitter!) Does a giant souvenir margarita glass from Mexico count as Elijah’s cup? Thought so. Aforementioned wine. Hillel sandwich. Boom. I made my own horseradish this year, and turns out you are supposed to let it sit for more than an hour. That stuff was so strong! Everyone was in tears, but I’m pretty sure they were tears of joy.  L’chaim! I love having a mix of Jews and non-Jews at my Seder. Everyone had a blast and sang songs and ate all the food.  Not a drop of Manischewitz Ice Cream was left.  MATZAH CRACK.
I think this says it all. Happy Passover!!
