Noodle Kugel

Classic kugel! This version is more custard-y.
  • For kugel:
  • ½ pound (8 ounces) noodles
  • ½ pound cream cheese
  • 1 pound cottage cheese
  • 1 pint sour cream
  • ¼ pound butter (1 stick), plus more for buttering pan
  • 5 extra large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ⅓ - ½ cup sugar (depends on how sweet you like it)
  • For topping:
  • 2 cups crushed Special K (or other flakes)
  • 2 tablespoons (or whatever you like!) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  1. Preheat to 350 degrees F.
  2. Butter a 9x13x2 inch glass or ceramic dish and set aside.
  3. Cook noodles according to directions until al dente.
  4. Drain well, then return to the pot. In a separate bowl, mix together all kugel ingredients. Add to the noodles, and pour into the 9x13 dish.
  5. To make the topping, toss together ingredients and sprinkle evenly over noodles.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes. Let stand at least 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
