Apples dipped in honey is cool and all, but Apples and Honey Doughnuts brings your sweet New Year to the next level!
Oh heeey there. We all know Rosh Hashanah aka The Jewish New Year is all about the apples and honey for a sweet new year. But with secular New Year’s swimming in champagne, I felt the need to up the cool factor for our celebration. And nothing says cool like fried things. Am I right??
I tried this recipe a few times before I got it exactly right. Round apple slices dipped in a simple batter, fried, and topped with a honey glaze. Perfectly sweet, and easy enough for your New Year’s menu. Bonus: Round foods are often enjoyed during Rosh Hashanah, representing the circle of life and renewal, making these round doughnuts extra awesome. Hopefully these sweet doughnuts will be just the start to the sweetest New Year yet. Yes!
And speaking of sweet, I spent the whole last week in San Francisco visiting this guy. My brother Andy! Yes, good looks do run in the family. (If you want to skip hearing about how much fun I had frolicking in wine country, scroll to the bottom for the recipe link.)
Posed in front of some lesbian rainbow unicorns. Oh that SF. Cut it out! Playing with my college friend Krissi in front of the Painted Ladies aka Full House houses.
Off to Napa! The view from Barnett Vineyards.
Grapes!
Not only was Andy there, but my Mom came from CT too! Isn’t she adorable?? We may be a few glasses of vino deep in this photo. Lots of frolicking. Stalker view of French Laundry. Redwoods of Muir Woods. Hello SF.
Don’t fret, I got in some time for Jew food too! Knishes from King Knish. (The pastrami with rosemary mustard was on point.) And a bagel from our B&B Noe’s Nest. Check out that view!
Dolores Park! Anyhoo, back to doughnuts. Just slice, dip, fry, glaze, eat. Can you eat these for breakfast? I’m not stopping you.
